In this video presentation, Dawn Bowdish speaks about research into pneumonia and the elderly.

Objectives:
  • Describe delirium as a consequence of acute illness in older people
  • Recognize deconditioning as a preventable problem in older people
  • Investigate current hypotheses about why we live as long as we do, why there is a gender difference in the aging trajectory and why our health fails with age
  • Understand the role of chronic inflammation in the aging process and how it contributes to age-related diseases such as dementia
